GROWTH MINDSET | FIXED MINDSET | Mini Mindset Check-In

A happy new month and new opportunities to you. If the months seem to fly by, leaving you wondering if you are ever going to reach your goals, you are not alone. At the beginning of each new month, many people are left wondering what you accomplished in the previous month.

As you start the new month, start thinking about how you can realign yourself with your real goals. Briefly reflect on what you accomplished in the previous month. It will include examples of questions of self-pondering, such as:

  • What did I accomplish this past month?
  • Why did I do it?
  • How much closer am I to my overall goal of XYZ?
  • What can I do today to help me achieve this?

This self-pondering exercise aims to help you move towards a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset.

Growth vs Fixed Mindset

GROWTH MINDSET vs. FIXED MINDSET

Ok, so you may be wondering what is growth versus fixed mindset anyway? When someone has a growth mindset, they believe that they can continue to learn and become more intelligent with effort. Someone with a growth mindset sees mistakes as a learning opportunity and openly accepts criticism because they believe it will help them grow.  “In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.” (Dweck, 2015)

The questions above are only the tip of the iceberg. There is a great deal of research that has gone into the growth vs. fixed mindset. So, challenge yourself during the first week of each new month to find a new self-pondering question for your monthly mindset check-in.

Shifting

New Focus Best Virtual Paralegal LLC

Shifting your mindset is powerful. It’s a reset on your goal in life. Developing a growth mindset requires a set of small mindset shifts. This includes believing in growing and changing, seeing challenges as opportunities, and focusing on progress. Where you focus your efforts is vital to how you shift your energy.

Most folks seek out coaches and consultants to help them shift their mindset from one to another.  Because they know they can’t shift alone. No matter how many times they tell themselves, “Life is made up of small actions. Even the smallest of actions can lead to the largest impact”.
