LinkedIn All-Star Status is what you should be aiming for when creating your profile; if you hire someone to help you with your profile, ask if they are an all-star. If you seek assistance from another member of your paralegal Association to help with your LinkedIn profile, ask if they are an all-star. LinkedIn algorithms prioritize users with complete profiles by ranking them higher in search results than users with incomplete profiles.

What is a LinkedIn All-Star Status?

LinkedIn All-Star Status is the best ranking you can achieve. There are five status levels, from least complete to highest completion: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, and All-Star. When we originally published this article, January 2018, right beneath the section with your profile photo is “Profile Strength. ” When you reach All-Star rating, that means your profile is optimized for success. According to LinkedIn, profiles with an All-Star rating are “27 times more likely to be found in recruiter searches. LinkedIn has a base of over 500 million users”.

Achieving All-Star Status

LinkedIn All-Star Status is easy to achieve. It’s easier than most people think. Doing so will include basic things to strengthen your profile, such as adding a professional picture, filling out your work experience, writing a catchy headline, and writing a compelling headline. You’re allowed a maximum of 120 characters for your headline, so use them wisely. Don’t just list your job title and company – use the headline as an opportunity to highlight your expertise and individuality. When choosing a headshot, the image should be a headshot where your face occupies about 50% to 60% of the screen. The picture should be a recent one – not from high school in 1980.

After your profile picture is set, fill out your work experience. If you are seeking a job, your LinkedIn profile should relate to the job you are seeking.  It would be best if you listed all present and past positions held. Optimize your profile by adding a well-drafted summary of responsibilities and achievements for each position held.

Experts agree you should include relevant keywords in your experience summaries. Doing so will help your profile show up in relevant search results. Remember to use strong action verbs in your summaries. The summary should encapsulate your experience, strengths, skills, and vision for your career. They can be a maximum of 2,000 words. Keep the writing clear and concise, and always check for spelling and grammar errors when you’re done.

List of Skills

After your experience, list skills & get endorsements. The skills and endorsement sections are where creditability is built. Experts agree that setting your skills and obtaining endorsements for each is vital to increasing your visibility on the site. Adding education isn’t very difficult on LinkedIn, but it’s necessary to achieve All-Star status. And while listing the university you attended, and the degree you earned is simple, there are ways to make the most out of this section.
